DIALOG #II

Works of imagination: Diverse expressions on a captivating theme.

Imagination

ALESSANDRA BELTRAME

Under the title "Imagination," Erhard Witzel, in collaboration with Ute Denkenberger from the Vorarlberg Museum, presents a selection of artworks that approach the theme in various ways. "Imagination" refers to the act of imagining, pictorial representation, and fantasy. While often associated with the visual realm, it can also relate to linguistic and logical abilities, in other words, ideas. In a narrower sense, imagination primarily refers to the mental ability to develop or recall images and perceive them vividly with the mind's eye. Such internally generated images need not always be art, just as art need not always be an image, as the idea takes center stage in the work.
