The work must be different from the artist

Reality and Fiction

Different

ALESSANDRA BELTRAME

THE WORK MUST BE DIFFERENT FROM THE ARTIST is a research and reflection project that explores the distinction between the work and the artist. The everyday action of putting on and taking off clothing was ritualized with a repetitive and simple motion, recorded as a video.

For four weeks, she worked in a defined space, similar to a cell, illuminated only by artificial light, like a long night without a day.

She used the studio as an experimental structure, creating a sort of film set, a workspace, a home.

In the installation, real objects blend with other fictional objects (created by me), blurring the line between reality and fiction.

The work is the Artist, and the Artist is more than the work, and the work is more than the Artist.
