We cannot trace ourselves backward, for the present, in thought or in immediate being, slips away the moment we reach for it.

I realized this intervention upon invitation in a former forester’s house in the Salem Castle district on Lake Constance. With this work, I wished to open a series of reflections on some of my more intimate aspects: my relationship with nature, my relationship with silence, and my relationship with art.
Visitors are invited to pause, to sit in silence, and to let their gaze meet and overlap with felled trees and living trees. “Thrown back upon itself” is existence when faced with being itself.
